Polydyne™ is a high strength double-braided rope incorporating a
polyester sleeve over a nylon core. Polydyne™ maximizes load sharing
between core and sleeve, yielding extremely high strength and high
working energy absorption capacity. Nylon supplies “give” and
“polyester” abrasion-resistance, and a willingness to cycle to a high
percentage of break. Polydyne is identified by two green strands separated by a white strand braided into the cover of the rope.
Polydyne does virtually everything Double Esterlon does, but allows
you to drop bigger wood, increasing productivity. Polydyne has a much
higher working energy absorption meaning you can do more to the rope
without damaging it.
The cover of this double braid is
identical to our Double Esterlon, right down to the tree grade
Maxijacket coating, the toughest in the industry. The secret is all in
the core which in the case of Polydyne is high tenacity tire grade
nylon.
Nylon provides the energy absorption advantage and allows the rope to stretch more in its early load cycle.
Data
Working load is based on static or moderately dynamic
lifting/pulling operations. Instantaneous changes in load, up or down,
in excess of 10% of line’s rated working load constitutes hazardous
shock load and would void normal working-load recommendation. Consult
Yale Cordage for guidelines for working loads and safe use of rope.
Polydyne is made to Yale Cordage Specification #YCI-PD-012
